My Immortal-Song Interpretation

After listening to the song My Immortal preformed by Evanescence these were my thoughts:

This song appears to be expressing the loss of someone dearly loved through death. The memories of the loved one resonates in the authors’ daily life and hasn’t’ found condolence in that loss.

This song could be a spring board for a writing invitation when there is death in the family or death of loved ones. There are many students who at an early age have experienced the death of some they know and a writing exercise following the introduction of this song could serve as an outlet for their emotions in a positive manner.

Further, this would be a great example to use in the classroom for student to analyze the text and to some extent find the connections in their lives to the text which would make the learning experience meaningful.
